The Engineering (Bachelor of Science -Engineering) program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the General Criteria and the Program Criteria for Engineering, General Engineering, Engineering Physics, Engineering Science, and Similarly Named Engineering Programs. 

Oral Roberts University’s Engineering (Bachelor of Science -Engineering) program empowers you with a background to apply mathematics and natural sciences to turn ideas into reality. You will be able to apply creative solutions to real-world problems within the context of a Christian world view. 

You’ll experience a liberal arts foundation and have the choice of selecting a concentration in Biomedical, Computer, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. The opportunity to apply what you learn is available through research and design projects such as creating a racecar, a flight simulator, a hyperloop pod or a mechanical ventilator.

ORU hosts several clubs and student societies for you to get involved in that provide enrichment and professional networking:

  • Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
  • Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE)

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

The following program educational objectives are broad statements that describe what our graduates are expected to attain within a few years after graduation.

  1. Graduates will have secured engineering positions that will have led to successful careers in industry, government, or academia or will have successfully pursued an advanced degree in a chosen field.
  2. Graduates will have applied their technical knowledge to design, analyze systems or to solve ever-changing real-world engineering problems.
  3. Graduates will have communicated and worked effectively with people with a broad variety of backgrounds.
  4. Graduates will have engaged in lifelong learning and professional development.
  5. Graduates will have been able to apply Christian principles of stewardship and discipline in their personal and professional lives, having been committed to professional and ethical standards of responsibility.

ENGINEERING STUDENT OUTCOMES

The engineering faculty has established the following engineering student outcomes. The realization of these outcomes is important for the achievement of program educational objectives and represents the skills and abilities that students should be able to demonstrate by the time of graduation.

  1. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics
  2. An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors
  3. An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
  4. An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts
  5. An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives
  6. An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions
  7. An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies
  8. An ability to apply Christian principles of stewardship
